Computer Garden
A Digital Herbal Guide for Navigating Digital Violence (2023)
Computer Garden is a digital guide that connects knowledge about medicinal plants with resources to address digital violence. The project stems from the idea that prevention and care in technological environments can draw inspiration from ancestral and vernacular practices of gardening and popular medicine. In this way, it offers an alternative to conventional digital security manuals, focusing not only on technical protection but also on the symbolic and cultural dimensions of care.
The guide weaves together botanical and technopolitical knowledge, establishing parallels between the properties of certain plants —soothing, protective, regenerative— and strategies to confront online harassment or abuse. Conceived as an open and evolving tool, Computer Garden has both pedagogical and community purposes: it reframes digital violence not merely as a technical issue but as a social and cultural phenomenon, proposing creative and accessible ways to nurture collective resilience.
