In 2017, the Wikimedia Foundation Board identified responses to harassment and toxic behavior as a key priority to ensure a healthy, inclusive community culture. This urgency underscores the need for feminist digital spaces where women, queer, and underrepresented voices can engage in knowledge production without fear of harassment.

The Wikipedia Bias Detector (now offline) was a prototype developed as part of the doctoral research of Dr. Marta Delatte, designed to empower users from marginalized communities to identify and respond to biased content without exposing themselves to online abuse. Through an intuitive interface, participants can explore seven Wikipedia categories and provide feedback whenever they perceive bias, contributing collectively to a more equitable and transparent encyclopedia
